Our Story
Returning to the water.
The story of Overlook Park & Marina on Lake Somerville, Est. 1970
Since 1970
A place that already meant something.
Since 1970, this stretch of Lake Somerville has been a place where people launch boats, pitch tents, and watch the sun go down. For years it was known as Lake Somerville Marina & Campground.
Harley and Tyler Schild grew up on this lake. Their weekends began before sunrise, when the water was calm. Their dad made time, despite long workdays, for boating, fishing, and wakeboarding.
“Looking back, it wasn’t anything fancy. It was just time together. But those weekends ended up meaning more than anything else we could’ve been doing.”
When the chance came to take over the park, Harley put it this way.
“It felt bigger than just a business decision.”
In 2026
Brothers, back at the lake.
In 2026 the brothers took the park on.
“We weren’t just buying property — we were stepping into a place that already meant something to people.”
What they bring to the park comes down to three ideas.
- Experiences over possessions. Time at the water outlasts stuff.
- Stewardship over ownership. The park is something to look after for the next family.
- Hospitality. Guests should feel welcome the minute they pull in.
